RGSAO girls record historic first win
12 December 2008
RGS Worcester & The Alice Ottley School Boat Club made history last weekend, recording the schools first ever female rowing crew victory.
Competing at Wycliffe Head on Saturday and Monmouth Head on Sunday, the Girls S4 Coxed Four raced against adult opposition from Birmingham RC and Avon County, winning the event by five seconds. It was a fantastic moment for the newly victorious crew (Sophie Stevens, Ros Goldrick, Zoë Thompson, Julia Davies and cox Catherine Field), although Zoë Thompson has won many events including national medals in her Single Scull.
The weekend also saw victory for the RGSAO men’s J16 VIII, beating opposition from Monmouth RC and Swansea to win the Novice VIIIs event.
