Hockey Results Lent 2009
2 February 2009
Boys 1st Team
King's School Gloucester 0-2 Loss
KES Birmingham 1-4 Loss
Malvern College 1-0 Win
After a couple of defeats to start the season the boys performed very well to defeat a well organised Malvern team. The match was very even and the scoreline at halftime was 0-0. In the second half Rob Mackichan applied continual pressure in midfield and Ed Raine remained resolute in defence alongside Doug Wilkie. Additional pressure resulted in a penalty corner being awarded. The goalkeeper made a good save from the first shot but could only parry the ball towards Luke Owen who put the ball into the empty net. The team defended very well throughout the remainder of the match to close out the game.
U13 County Tournament - Sunday 1st February
The girls performed very well on a bitterly cold Sunday morning but unfortunately they did not convert the chances they had into goals. In three of the four pool games we were dominant in the match but poor finishing let us down. In reality we should have qualified for the semi-finals but there is hope for next year with half the team comprising of Year 7 girls.
