History for U12 Netball
30 January 2009
Wednesday 21st January marked an historic day for RGS Worcester & The Alice Ottley School, as the school won the Bromsgrove U12 Invitational Netball Tournament for the first time.
Competing against 12 teams - through two sections of six - the ten strong RGSAO team led by Captain Isabelle Darby stormed the extremely competitive annual competition.
The group stages witnessed the U12 team face Dean Close (Won 4 – 1), St Mary’s (Won 6 – 0), Heathfield (Won 2 -1), Holy Trinity (Won 4 – 0) and Parkside (Won 7 – 0), setting up an interesting semi-final against Cheltenham Ladies College a fixture the girls won by seven points to zero.
The final saw RGSAO take on the hosts – Bromsgrove School – who had also won their section. In a close-run, end-to-end match it took the second half to tell the difference with RGSAO Worcester edging through four goals to one.
During the seven matches in the event RGSAO scored an impressive average of just under five goals per game and only conceded three goals during the whole tournament.
