Art Department
Welcome to the Art Department
At RGS Worcester we offer a dynamic expressive education, taught by an extremely talented team of artists. Whatever your artistic passion and flair we have the facilities and staff on hand to allow your talent to flourish. An Imaginative Department
The modern department offers pupils the opportunity to experience a wide range of media and techniques, learning from specialist art teachers in a range of disciplines and materials.Painting and drawing, Three-dimensions, mixed media, graphic design, ICT, textiles, film, and digital photography.
Professional expertise and specialism guarantees maximum support and ensures development of individual potential at all levels. Pupils in Year Seven, Eight (a double lesson per week) and Year Nine (one double and one single per week) work with the pro-active staff experiencing different approaches and emphasise, ensuring a rich curriculum experience.
Creative GCSEs
GCSE students are timetable for two double lessons per week of Art and Design. Pupils in Year Ten divide their time between specialist staff; diversity of experience and a broad based approach enables students to ‘tap in’ to their particular strengths. Coursework reflects this approach and leads to an unendorsed certificate. A residential visit to St Ives and The Eden Project allows students to work from first hand observation and experience.Inventive A Levels
A Level pupils have the freedom to use the full range of our extensive facilities and expertise (Four doubles per week). Students concentrate on refinement of coursework within an individual programme of development. This approach ensures students pursue personal and particular ideas, passions and interests. Visits to Tate Britain, Tate Modern and The Saatchi Gallery aid this process.A Flexible and Expressive Approach
The flexibility of our programme ensures that all students at all stages, experience diversity within which to develop their personal skills and confidence, allowing them to gain knowledge and understanding within an extremely creative framework.A Bright Future in Art & Design
Every year we have a large number of A Level students going on to pursue Art and Design in all its forms at leading Universities. Some students choose to do a Foundation Course before deciding on their Arts degree and future career, but many other pupils go directly onto Degree courses:Interior Design, Architecture, Fine Art, Fashion Design, History of Art, Costume Design for Film & Television, Photography, to name but a few.
