A Wonderful Week of Sport at RGSAO

1 May 2009

  • Record Breakers –
Saturday, April 25 marked a new U17 Boys Discus record for RGSAO and a distance that is currently the best in the country at an U17 level.

Adam Damadzic threw a distance of 51.24 metres, improving his own record, set last year from the English Schools’ Championships, by nearly six metres.

  • Cricket –
The square witnessed some fantastic wins for RGSAO this week, against some extremely hard local opposition.

Victories came against Bromsgrove School on Saturday (April 25) and King’s Worcester on the Sunday (April 26). The King’s match in particular saw RGSAO 1st XI (A) register a magnificent performance and victory, to help them progress through Round 1 of the Chesterton Cup.

  • Rounders –
With two difficult away trips, the odds of success were against the RGSAO Rounders Teams - but resilience and teamwork prevailed and saw school victories against both Solihull School and The Chase Malvern.

  • Golf –
Competing on the Fairmont St Andrew’s Pittocks Course as Regional Champions, the RGSAO team – Rudy Hercik, Jamie Hodges and Jake Payne – faced the very best UK independent school golf teams and the elements to pull together and finish second in the UK; narrowly missing out on the team and individual titles.
